Authorities Foil Attempt to Smuggle over 141K Psychotropic Tablets into Morocco
Rabat – National Security forces and Customs officials at the Beninsar port foiled, on Thursday night, an international drug trafficking attempt to smuggle a total of 141,750 psychotropic tablets into Morocco.
Security forces discovered, through border control operations, concealed psychotropics in a foreign-registed vehicle immediately upon arrival on a boat from Spain, detailed a press release from Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
The 44-year-old driver of the vehicle, a Spanish citizen of Moroccan origin, was promptly arrested and taken into police custody. The authorities seek to determine local and international connections of this transborder criminal activity and arrest other accomplices.
